The Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson has been listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys due to an ankle injury. This leaves rookie QB Russell Wilson without his top weapon in what is sure to be a difficult matchup.

SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks’ offense will be almost fully functional on Sunday after quarterback Russell Wilson and rookie receiver Dee Eskridge were reinstated from their respective injured reserve spells on Friday in time to play the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
Chris Carson, the team’s running back, will not be joining them.
Coach Pete Carroll said on Friday afternoon that Carson would be sidelined for at least another week due to a neck ailment. Carson would be a game-time decision, he indicated earlier in the day on his 710 ESPN Seattle radio program in an interview that aired earlier in the day.
Carroll told reporters Friday afternoon, “I just don’t believe it’s time to do it yet.” “It just hasn’t had enough time to properly assess it. He had two excellent, difficult days, but he didn’t quite clean it sufficiently… He’s itching to play and everything, but we need to make sure we’re on the correct track. So we’ll take care of him this week and see what happens the following week.”
With Carson missing his seventh straight game, Alex Collins is slated to take over as Seattle’s starting running back. Carroll has attributed all of this to a reoccurring neck ailment that flared up again in Week 5. In Week 6, he was put on injured reserve, although he returned to practice on Wednesday, working that day and Thursday before being kept out on Friday.
Carroll stated, “He looked pretty excellent running the ball in practice.” “We swung him around a little to get a feel for it, but it doesn’t seem like the moment has come for us to know where he stands. He’s got a lion’s heart and wants to go out there and do it, but we need to make sure we’re taking care of him, so we’ll need more time.”
The Seahawks created a 21-day window in which they must activate Carson to their 53-man roster to make him eligible to play again this season by designating him for a return to practice on Wednesday.
Rashaad Penny, DeeJay Dallas, and Travis Homer are among Seattle’s available tailbacks, in addition to Collins. Dallas and Homer are often used as change-of-pace characters in Seattle.
Wilson returned to practice on Monday, one month after undergoing surgery on his right middle finger to address several injuries sustained during the Rams game. That brought an end to his 149-game winning run to start his career.
According to Carroll, Wilson was not restricted in practice this week.
“He’s having a great week,” Carroll remarked. “He really did. You could see him becoming a little better as the week progressed, but he didn’t hold back and ended strong the final few days, and he’s ready to go.”
Wilson stated on Thursday that his finger is almost 100 percent after completing his comeback ahead of schedule.
“I anticipate him to play the same way he usually does,” Carroll said. “I’m not anticipating anything different. There isn’t a single difference. He’s itching to play football right now. He had forgotten about it. So we have to make sure he understands everything about this chance. I’m more concerned that he’s too enthusiastic, too pumped up. He’ll be alright, however. Very, I’m just blown away by how well this has gone and how far he’s taken us, and I’m really excited to watch him play football.”
Since sustaining a concussion in the opener, Eskridge, Seattle’s second-round selection, hasn’t played. As a result, he had eyesight problems, which Carroll claims are now resolved.
Carroll added, “He had a fantastic week.” “He was in charge of everything. He’ll be a part of the strategy. We can do anything we want with him. He had a fantastic week and looked fantastic.”
Although defensive lineman Al Woods is listed as doubtful (due to an unrelated injury), Carroll believes he will play. Bless Austin (personal reasons), Cody Barton (quad), and Marquise Blair (knee) have all been ruled out. Blair is anticipated to be put on injured reserve, freeing up one of Seattle’s two roster places for Wilson and Eskridge.
The Seahawks are attempting to win at Lambeau Field for the first time since 1999. Since Wilson was picked in 2012, they’ve gone 0-4 there, including playoffs.
On Friday, the Seahawks cut tight end Tyler Mabry and placed safety Marquise Blair on injured reserve to create space on the roster for Wilson and Eskridge.
